Cribbage poster

This season turned out to be quite exciting as at one point as many as 6 players were in a position to win! As it turned out, many dropped by the wayside as the number of games played increased. Eventually, George looked like the winner but panic showed on his face when it was pointed out that Hazel could pip him at the post. Finally it was a dead heat therefore both players agreed to play a deciding rubber which George won by 2 games to 1.

The presentation evening on the 29th March started with an excellent meal provided by Chef Sam followed by the presentation and raffle.

The results were: 1st George Evans with 10 Rubbers, 26 games, 2nd Hazel Hinton 9 Rubbers, 25 games and 3rd John Bray 8 Rubbers, 23 games.(His brother Fred was very close with 8 Rubbers, 22 games). Thanks to Fred with Ann’s help for organising the competition and also Geoff for keeping tabs on the scores.

The trophy was found to be full up therefore Fred took it up himself to make another one ready for next season. Well done Fred!

The new season will start around September with Fred and Ann running it again. Friendly games are played every week on Thursday nights at 7.30pm. If you fancy a game one evening without any commitment, come along and join the friendly crowd – they would love to see you.
